Why Social Gospel and Black Liberation Theology Adherents Are Powerless To Win The Abortion War!

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth.” (Rom. 1:16)

Three weeks ago I opined about The Fallacy and Ineffectiveness of the “Social Gospel”. I indicated I had recently received an email from a man essentially seeking publicity for some protest events planned for this month in Washington, DC, outside the headquarters of two prominent, long existing organizations that have spearheaded the promotion of abortion in America, particularly amongst the black community, which now has a 51% abortion rate. I said that normally I would not have responded at all to such a matter, because I personally believe such public protests have little effect, and certainly in this respect, as horrifying and outrageous as the problem is, it is obvious countless protests over four plus decades have been ineffective in reducing the black abortion rate.

Despite my views on the matter, for some reason that I could not at the outset identify, I felt led to call the person who had submitted the information via email, who it appeared was acting as an organizer of the protests on behalf of a number of entities coalescing to sponsor the events. When I called him, he proceeded to dispense in fairly articulate fashion information he had stated in the email, as well as in answer to my questions regarding the goals, purposes, and sponsors of the protests. My assertions that I too had been recently more and more outraged by the statistics and other information my research regarding the matter produced that were central to the upcoming protests, further energized him in his expressions of both the issues and talking points regarding them, but also about the broader context of the subject matter as it relates to biblical, doctrinal, and theological perspectives. It was in this latter aspect of the conversation that he lost me, as I began to realize he was pontificating the usual talking points associated with the social gospel, and Black Liberation Theology, in particular.

What was somewhat surprising and disconcerting to me, as the conversation progressed, was his fairly frequent evoking of curse words throughout his conversation. While with my mind I was listening and mentally processing what he was saying about the scourge of the astronomically high abortion rate of African-Americans, at the same time there was another conversation, so to speak, going on in my spirit concerning this man’s spiritual condition. My more than 3.5 decades of experience in the matter of deliverance and demons coupled with the charismata-gift of the discerning of spirits told me clearly that this man was infested with numerous demons of a certain category that included blasphemy, anger, resentment, contempt, hatred, murder, et al.

In my spirit, this placed this conversation in a category similar to the incident recorded in the gospels when Jesus and the apostles passed through a Samaritan village who “did not receive Him, because He was traveling toward Jerusalem” (Lk. 9:53), to which the brothers James and John—the “Sons of Thunder,” which nickname, I believe, they earned from this incident—asked if Jesus wanted them to call down fire from heaven to consume the people of the village a la Elisha’s supernatural exploits chronicled in Hebrew history. Jesus’ response was not at all what they had expected: “But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit YE are of. For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.” (Lk. 9:55-56; emphasis added)

Jesus was indicating that while the apostles were not wrong to be outraged regarding the contempt this Samaritan village displayed for Jehovah God in totally rejecting the Son of God—in their minds because He was Jewish and was travelling toward Jerusalem, both of which the Arabic Samaritans despised— nevertheless, the apostles’ “spiritual vigilantism” and desire to execute vengeance upon the offenders was not motivated by the Holy Spirit of God, but evil spirits (demons) of the devil. To put it more succinctly: right on the issue, but wrong on the response. “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord” (Deut. 32:35; et al.) was the repeatedly expressed Word of Jehovah in the Torah, instructing the Hebrews that they were to leave the matter of vengeance to the Lord Himself, rather than attempting to exact it themselves.

Indeed, a contemptuous, vengeful attitude is in no way a “Christian,” Biblical, or spiritual attitude. The Bible speaks against it in numerous places, one of the most explanatory examples is found in Paul’s letter to the Roman believers:

Be of the same mind toward one another; do not be haughty in mind, but associate with the lowly. Do not be wise in your own estimation. Never pay back evil for evil to anyone. Respect what is right in the sight of all men. If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men. Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, “VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY,” says the Lord. “BUT IF YOUR ENEMY IS HUNGRY, FEED HIM, AND IF HE IS THIRSTY, GIVE HIM A DRINK; FOR IN SO DOING YOU WILL HEAP BURNING COALS ON HIS HEAD.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. (Rom. 12:16-21; emphases added)

What this passage of Scripture, in particular, is elucidating and counseling, along with the upshot of what Jesus was saying in the Samaritan village incident, is that while there will be times that followers of Christ are incensed at the attitudes and behaviors of people who reject God and His expressed will, word, and ways, the only effective way to “overcome” or counteract the mindsets and resultant actions is by acting in the opposite spirit to the evil spirits that are at work through them. The Gospel of the Kingdom is replete with seeming paradoxes—give to gain, die to live, love your enemies, pray for those who persecute and scorn you, humble yourself to be exalted—and the Kingdom principle represented here is another inviolable spiritual law. Operating in the opposite spirit of what others are operating in against you, will actually produce the spiritual power needed to “overcome” and defeat the malicious effects the enemy of our souls is intending and attempting to exact upon us, because “good” emanating from God and His Spirit is spiritually superior and more powerful than evil that is authored by demonic entities. Hallelujah!

It’s not always easy—I didn’t say it was—because to operate in this spiritual principal, we must first take dominion over the evil inherent in the carnal spirit resident within our own soul, and put it under—but doing so always works when we walk in it! Responding with evil—vengeful, angry, bitter, resentful, hate-filled, murderous attitudes—is exactly what the devil is hoping we will do, because evil cannot be overcome or defeated with evil. Again, it’s never easy, but it always works! It’s as much an inviolable spiritual law as gravity is a natural law.

In fact, all this, to be exceedingly blunt, is precisely why the unconscionable abortion rate in people-groups of color has continued to skyrocket unfettered over the course of the now 40 years that have transpired since Roe v. Wade legalized abortion in 1973. What is behind this matter is evil—specifically the evil of bitterness, hatred, and murder—which are all evil spirits. Abortion is murder of a human being. All arguments to the contrary are total twaddle. Unfortunately, many blacks, as well as other people of color, in harboring and failing to repent from such murderous mindsets have opened the door to incursion by demon spirits who have eagerly come sashaying through that open door to take up residence in those people’s souls and, in the case of the unregenerate, their human spirits. What is this an open door to demonic incursion of spirits of murder, because it is a spiritual violation (aka, sin) that will actually preclude a person from being spiritually regenerated or Born Again:

1 John 3:
(1)  See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and such we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
(2)  Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is.
(3)  And everyone who has this hope fixed on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.
(4)  Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness.
(5)  You know that He appeared in order to take away sins; and in Him there is no sin.
(6)  No one who abides in Him sins; no one who sins has seen Him or knows Him.
(7)  Little children, make sure no one deceives you; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous;
(8)  the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil.
(9)  No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
(10)  By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother.
(11)  For this is the message which you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another;
(12)  not as Cain, who was of the evil one and slew his brother. And for what reason did he slay him? Because his deeds were evil, and his brother’s were righteous.

Everyone who hates his brother (includes an unborn child) is a MURDERER; and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. (1 Jn. 3:15)

If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother (includes an unborn child), he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen. (1 Jn. 4:20)

God makes it unambiguously plain in His Word that murder and the anger, bitterness, hatred, and contempt associated with it, inherently, is not a political or social issue, but a spiritual issue of the human heart that condemns a person so separation from God. It is sin. And, it is authored by demon spirits, who are themselves possessed with an incalculable hatred for God and therefore His Mankind Creation.

Thus, the sin and evil of abortion simply cannot be overcome, halted, or even deterred by any means of civil demonstrations, protests, or expressions of evil. Evil cannot overcome evil. Evil is incapable of defeating evil. Evil-doing only begets more evil, which in time becomes exponential reproduction of evil, which is precisely what the result is with abortion, particularly in the African-American community and culture. Bottom-line is that it is evil spirits and their commander, the devil, who is possessed with a murderous hatred for God’s Mankind Creation that cannot be accurately quantified or expressed, behind abortion. Thus, no amount of protesting, picketing, organizing, or pontificating about civil rights issues, no matter how right, righteous, and just, will ever stem the tide of or win the battle against abortion. It will never work, and the proof is in the fact that it never has yet.

Many people fail to remember or take note of one very important part of the infamous “I Have A Dream” speech of the undisputed champion of the so-called, “Civil Rights Movement,” Martin Luther King Jr., in which he warned contemporary and future “freedom fighters” regarding this very matter of bitterness and hatred:

But there is something that I must say to my people who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice. In the process of gaining our rightful place we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred.

Acrimony, contempt, bitterness, hatred, and hostility is the unmistakable fruit of the flesh (Gal. 5:13-23), not of the genuine Gospel of Christ, His Spirit, and His Kingdom. Only the Son of God, Christ Jesus, has the power to liberate those who accept Him of the fruit of the carnal nature of sin and Satan (Jn. 8:36). The so-called “social gospel” and its evil twin, the non sequitur, Black Liberation Theology, over 150 years has proven to possess no such power to truly liberate anyone. Only Christ possesses that power…in superfluity…and only the genuine Good News of Christ “is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth.” (Rom. 1:16)###
